March 2018 in the Kivii Life (#MarchSadness)

Happy April! This weekend brings our first 2018 wedding and I can’t wait to see Dale & Jake tie the knot on Saturday 😀

I’m also looking forward to April because March was not my favorite month; My Uncle Donny passed away after some long health struggles, and there was some #MarchSadness.

But there were good things in the Kivii life too. John and I spent about 24 hours in Charlotte where we got to spend time with his sister Liz and her husband Brett, wander around Davidson’s campus, and spend some time with some of my best friends:

Allison Janney was the best dressed at the Oscars. #CJforever

I had several family sessions to celebrate spring, even though the weather refuses to acknowledge that it is spring now. It snowed like 3 or 4 times in March. NOT COOL. Well actually, it was *too* cool #dadjoke. PLEASE COME BACK WARM WEATHER. I WANT TO WEAR SUNDRESSES AGAIN.

March also included one of my semi-annual MRIs; everything looks stable so that’s AWESOME. This was the first time John and I saw the very top of my skull in the MRI and we realized the part of my skull my surgeon cut open was WAY bigger than either one of us had thought. My tumor was relatively small, but the piece of my skull they cut open to get at my brain takes up almost the entire top of my head! Sorry if that’s TMI – it just blew my mind (no pun intended). Modern medicine is incredible.

From a media perspective, John and I have been watching American Gods on Starz and catching up on Brooklynn 99. They’re nice counterparts to one another, because after an hour of weird, often horrific visuals in American Gods, the goofy laughs from the 99 are a perfect mood raiser. We also started listening to Ready Player One and I don’t think either one of us cares about finishing it. I know a lot of people love it, but I’m not a fan. After dropping RPO, I picked up Artemis at the recommendation of some Twitter friends. I really, really liked it. I think the protagonist is delightful and I am going to have to read The Martian now. I’m also still working through my ASOIAF and Way of Kings re-reads. Who else has like seven books going at a time?

Kind of a lowkey month which was good because April & May will be busy!!!
