August 2017 Recap
(cue voiceover)
Last Month in The Kivii Life, from your favorite nerdy photographers:
Speaking of nerdy photographers, Game of Thrones Season 7 ended and I cried. If you want to talk about it (especially if you’re also an ASOIAF reader) let’s grab a beer! John is probably tired of listening to my theories.
We did things besides watch TV though, I swear! John and I spent a couple of evenings at Durham Bulls games with friends. We usually go to a few games a summer, but for whatever reason this year, we didn’t get to the DBAP until August! Still, it was a great time. Baseball is best watched in person with a hotdog and a beer, so that’s the way we did it.
Also: Sarah & Daisuke got married! Twice! We were only there for the wedding outside of Charlotte. Their second ceremony in Japan was just last weekend. I posted a
sneak peek at the August 12 wedding on Facebook, and should have a full blog post up soon. How dreamy and romantic is Riverwood Manor?
I spent some weekdays on headshot sessions (hit me up if you need a new profile pic). Danielle, the owner of Renew Day Spa, is featured below. She’s another member of NAWBO-Raleigh (National Association of Women Business Owners) and we serve on the Board together.
Last month, John and I also met with several of our couples for 2018 weddings. We have double the amount of weddings booked than we did this time last year, so I think 2018 is going to be incredible! Keep sending people our way 😀 Our ideal clients are relaxed and kinda nerdy (just like us).
There are some awesome things coming up in September. When this post goes live, we’ll have already photographed Erin & Jesse’s Greensboro wedding. September also brings us Jamie & Hal at Merry Hill and some bridal and engagement photo sessions.
And finally, as I wrote in a post a couple weeks ago, I turned 30. To celebrate, we spent the weekend in Asheville with a bunch of friends, touring breweries, playing boardgames, and eating a lot of biscuits. Here’s my summary in numbers, and then there are some snaps below:
- 10 of my favorite people
- 9 craft breweries
- 8 taps on an educational beer tasting
- 7 (or so) rounds of Telestrations
- 6 inch tall red velvet cake
- 5 miles averaged a day
- 4 biscuits (and 1 donut)
- 3 sweet potato pancakes with breakfast chicken
- 2 cookies on an artisanal ice cream sandwich
- 1 amazing trip
First breweries we hit were Catawba and Green Man.
We also went to Hi-Wire (not this location though) and saw a RIDICULOUS ad for laser hair removal.
John’s sister Liz joined us with her sweet Vizsla, Macy.
The remainder of photos were all clicked by my friend Ashley (the not-John bearded fellow is her husband Bradley) while were waiting on our pizza dinner. I love the last two: me being explainy, and my sister Rebecca ignoring me to look at her phone. <shrug emoji>
That’s a wrap for August. See you next month when I tell you all about September!
