Mystic Distillery Wedding – Abby & Liam
Abby & Liam met as students at Duke several years ago and were married earlier this month at Mystic Distillery in Durham. I’m so excited to finally be blogging this wedding, because it’s one of my favorites, and I love Abby & Liam and I know y’all will too.
So let’s jump right in? They got ready together at a hotel right next to Duke’s campus, and their friends and family were in and out to say hi. And also, how great are their save the dates featuring their pets?!?!

And then it was time to get to Mystic Distillery. Abby & Liam wanted to greet their guests as they arrived, rather than hiding and only seeing people after the ceremony. It was lots of fun! Games and hugs and so much love.
And then it was time to walk down the aisle!
One of Abby & Liam’s top priorities was making sure their wedding was inclusive, LGBTQ celebratory, and not conforming to the ideas of gender roles. So after they got ready (together <3) and welcomed their guests, both Abby & Liam walked into the ceremony with their parents.
Their officiant was Janie Long, who was the professor of the class they met in at Duke. During the ceremony, Abby & Liam made promises, had a reading from a friend, and had their guests participate in a unity ceremony that was about their love for their community, and not just Abby & Liam.
Here’s that unity ceremony. Every guest had a little bag of glass beads that they infused with their energy and love for the couple and those then went into a vase for Abby & Liam to have as a piece of art from their wedding day.
After the ceremony, hugs, joy, drinks, and portraits!
At the reception, a few speeches, and then a party all night long. No exit for these two, because dancing was the priority!
This might be my new favorite party photo of all time!
