The Cotton Room is a former textile mill, and it features huge windows and exposed brick. This large venue is just outside of the Durham downtown loop in the Golden Belt campus. In addition to the main ceremony/reception space, The Cotton room has large getting ready suites.

The Rickhouse
The Rickhouse is just blocks from the heart of Durham, in the same section of town as Motorco Music Hall, Geer St. Garden, and Boxcar Barcade. The back patio looks out over the historic, original Durham Bulls ballpark. Inside the venue, a glass wall shows off neighbor Liberty & Plenty’s distillery.

21C Museum Hotel
It’s a museum. It’s a hotel. It’s a museum hotel. The 21C boutique hotel company has 7 locations in the country and one of them is in our very own Durham, NC. The 21C building used to be a bank, and the vault remains in the basement. In addition to galleries on the first few floors, and hotel rooms above, there’s the Counting House restaurant and a large ballroom perfect for weddings.

Duke Chapel / Duke Gardens / Duke Lemur Center
Duke University hosts several Durham wedding venue options.
Duke Chapel is iconic, the Sarah P. Duke Gardens are lovely, and the Duke Lemur Center is SO COOL.

Durham Armory
The Durham Armory is a large event space operated by Durham Parks & Rec. It’s across the street from the Durham convention center. It’s basically a big ballroom-cum-community center. And it’s in the heart of the downtown loop, so you’ve got so much that everyone loves about the Bull City within a stones throw. There’s a stage too, so this would be a great spot for someone excited about having a band.

Durham Arts Council
Not very far from the Durham Armory is the Durham Arts Council. This venue is about as Durham as it gets. Art galleries. In the heart of downtown. Community minded. They are a nonprofit supporting triangle area artists. Their building in the Durham downtown loop includes an atrium area with two-story floor to ceiling windows. It makes a stunning ceremony backdrop.

Museum of Life & Science
There’s not much I love more than a museum wedding, and the Museum of Life & Science is both a wonderful museum and a wonderful wedding venue. The butterfly house makes a stunning ceremony site and there are endless lovely backdrops. You can even have animal encounters at your wedding!

Windy Hill Farm
Windy Hill farm is technically in Cedar Grove, not Durham. But it counts because it’s very close and I wanted to include something that wasn’t so very indoors.
