Love is fun & colorful.
Your wedding photos should be too.
Rachael & Andrea’s Halloween wedding included an appearance by Edgar Allan Poe. It was to die for and The Bells were jingling and tinkling. (Sorry, not sorry). These ladies got married at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham on Halloween night and it was truly POEtic. (You can’t stop me, I’m in control of this blog).
Before we get to the photos, let’s shout out this awesome Edgar Allan Poe wedding team. Nevermore will you see such a great group of Durham wedding vendors!

And now images from yours truly! Kivus & Camera 🙂
RSVP OR ELSE… and I loved the butterfly touches they incorporated since they got married outside the Museum’s Butterfly House. If you’ve got a good eye for detail, you can also see that this wedding was originally supposed to happen last year. I love my Covid couples for their determination and enthusiasm in spite of everything thrown at them.
Rachael & Andrea got ready together up until it was time to head to the Museum, where they put on their dresses in separate rooms so they could have a first look/final reveal before the ceremony.
Check out these awesome bat tights they rocked under the white dresses!
Time to see one another!
This is how you do fall florals. And in a cascade!! Yay color!!!
After portraits, the sun was starting to set and everyone made their way over to the ceremony setup outside of the Butterfly House. We had a last gasp of sunlight at the start of the ceremony, but were in full on blue hour by the kiss!
After the ceremony, guests were invited into the Butterfly House for a butterfly release. The butterflies were certainly not shy and I particularly loved the one that crawled into Rachael’s hair.
Officiant Ann got in on the butterfly kisses too!
And meanwhile, Stephanie of Beauty and the Budget was busy with all the final reception details. I know this is the grainiest photo ever. John shot it in full dark before we had any of our lights set up, but the moment was worth it to me! Stephanie is killing it at her job. (still not sorry).
Inside, the brides and their guests were getting to meet some residents of the Museum of Life and Science!
This guy was at the welcome table, but after everyone had arrived he had no body to hang out with.
The head table was for the birds. Ravens specifically.
But now we have to talk about this cake. Because Love Cake outdid herself. This is amazing!!! (ALMOST) Too pretty to eat.
After animal encounters during cocktail hour, Andrea & Rachael started the reception with their first dance.
Which was followed by dinner and toasts and a double father-daughter dance! Love love love!!
This whole time, Edgar has been over in a corner churning out poems on his typewriter. This Poe is more regularly seen as the Poetry Fox around Durham and Raleigh, so that’s why you’ll see his tell-tale paw-prints rather than a heart…
The cake wasn’t too pretty to eat after all, our brides just needed a little assist from Stephanie about the best way to go about it!
Oh brother. Our siblings always make for fun wedding guests!
so do parents!
and grandparents 🙂
A good chat with a friend who had to call out sick 🙁
And Deluxe Event Group had the dance floor going even in the chilly open air tent.
I’ll leave you with this late night shot of Rachael & Andrea in the Butterfly House for a quiet moment.
Congratulations you two!! And I hope all the details were perfectly Poe!
