Rainy Backyard Wedding

Bride and groom smile under an umbrella in the pouring rain

Kim & Mark’s Rainy AirBNB Backyard Wedding

We’re still in Covid19 Quarantine times, so this weekend’s wedding was another intimate, backyard wedding with just a handful of guests in attendance. Kim & Mark live in Atlanta and their families are in Pennsylvania, so when they decided to go the micro wedding route after coronavirus derailed their original plans, they picked a spot about halfway between the two locales. That ended up being a lovely lakefront AirBNB just outside of Roxboro, NC. And even though it rained all afternoon and evening, the lakeside and the boat dock in the backyard were the perfect backdrop for their intimate wedding.

And this marriage is lucky, because when you get married in the rain, you tie a wet knot, and any good sailor knows that wet knots are the strongest and toughest to untie.

Here are some previews from their intimate backyard wedding, featuring Dog of Honor Cypress!

We started with some portraits under the deck where it was mostly dry, but then we headed to the partly covered boat dock, which meant we had to make it through the rain first…

It was, as they say, raining cats and dogs.

But speaking of dogs, one of the guests in attendance was this sweet girl, Cypress, who within seconds of sniffing my hand had rolled over for some belly rubs.

Around 7, everyone headed back down to the dock for the ceremony. They had a phone set up to livestream the wedding to their friends and family who weren’t able to be there in person.

I love a couple who’s not afraid to get a little bit wet!

And families with good senses of humor!

After some toasts, we had just a minute with sparklers in front of the lake…

And then we said our goodbyes. Thanks Kim & Mark, for letting us be a small part of your lovely, intimate wedding. I know it wasn’t Plan A, but I hope you loved every minute regardless.
