We’ve been to the 21C Durham several times now, but Stephanie & Roscoe’s was our first wedding there. It was AWESOME. These two are incredible. You may remember their fun smiles and loving personalities from their Chapel Hill engagement session. Well, they brought that same energy to their multicultural wedding day and everyone had a wonderful time.
This is just one of the major life steps in their lives right now too. Stephanie is finishing up her surgical residency at UNC in the next couple weeks, and then the pair is headed to New England for the next phase of life. Roscoe killed it taking on so much of the wedding (and move!) planning while Stephanie’s life was consumed by residency. He didn’t do it alone though, so shout out to the awesome vendor team.

Roscoe & Stephanie had a gorgeous celestial theme to their wedding and the deep blues of a night sky made their way into so many details. Stephanie’s engagement ring was even in on the color scheme :-D.
Even though she got her hair done at the 21C with all her bridesmaids, Stephanie & I headed a couple blocks over to Posh the Salon for her makeup. Mariah did an amazing job giving Stephanie some wedding day glam vibes.
Not only did the groomspeople have bowties, which can be a challenge even for the dapperest of us, but they had pocket squares too! I love this series of everyone figuring out the best ways to fold their blue accessories.
And here we go, the first sighting of the infamous 21C fuchsia penguins. Keep your eyes peeled for these critters all night! That wasn’t the only exhibit we experienced though – we did some pre-ceremony portraits in the main hotel gallery on the second floor.
Ceremony time! Stephanie walked down the aisle with her brother and sister, but that meant that her 2 year old niece was just a little anxious about a solo trip without her mom. Ultimately, she made it though and Roscoe got to see a gorgeous doctor making her way toward him in a stunning Gilded Bridal gown.
To make room for the flip from ceremony to reception, we braved the North Carolina summer for some portraits outside. We even got Major the Bull in on some shots.
These reception details were out of this world!
(Did you get my dad joke? cause they’re all about stars which are not on our planet. Explaining it makes it extra funny.)
But even better than the details was the newlyweds’ entrance. Straight out of a rock concert, Mr. Harris & Dr. Principe!
I SPY PENGUINS! That means it’s party time!!
I’ll leave y’all with some late-night purple portrait action! And yes, if you didn’t notice, Stephanie had an outfit change. Yay for jumpsuits perfect for dancing the night away!
Thanks so much for having us! We had a fantastic time! The penguin and I. John did too though 😀
