I know the lovely Tara through my networking breakfast club full of amazing women. We connected over Star Wars phone cases (read all the way through for some Star Wars perfection!), and when she asked if I would be there to photograph her marriage to Mike, I was thrilled. We were a medium sized group for a Wake County Courthouse Wedding – Tara & Mike, Tara’s daughter, Mike’s three boys, and a couple friends to witness – and it was the perfect audience for their intimate ceremony.
First was the waiting; different courts have different systems of magistrate weddings, and in Wake County, Friday afternoons are the most popular time. Tara & Mike got there early and were third in line, but they still got to see two other couples get hitched first.
Then it was their turn. The looks on Tara’s face said it all, and the short, sweet ceremony was sealed with a kiss.
After a couple quick portraits in the courthouse, we headed out to Nash Square Park for some portraits…
And followed that up with a nice walk up to the Capitol building for a few more.
Now , the Star Wars goodness. Those necklaces were what Tara used to propose to Mike. If you know your Star Wars, you’ll recognize the Alliance Starbird – the Rebel Alliance’s symbol sported by everyone fighting the Empire. Mike’s half of the symbol says “I Love You” and Tara’s, of course, says “I Know.” HAN AND LEIA FOREVER.
You’ve seen the necklaces, so you can’t be too surprised by the cake toppers and champagne flutes they had for dinner at Cafe Luna later that day. <3 <3 <3
Thank you for letting me tag along to your Wake County courthouse wedding! I’m so happy you’ve got each other 😀
