What is the best wedding dessert?

I was planning out a post about the best caterers to continue my vendor recommendations, but…

Life is uncertain, so let’s start with wedding dessert:

Promise I’ll do entrees next.

Let’s be honest: cake is in the top three reasons I love my job. But wedding cake is evolving! There are wedding cupCAKEs, wedding cheeseCAKEs, wedding pies, wedding donuts, etc. Any dessert can be a wedding dessert. No matter what’s on the dessert table, you should treat yourself and your wedding guests to something delicious from one (or more) of these awesome businesses:

Cake first, because that’s what Gus up there requested.

Love Cake

Love Cake made my favorite wedding cake I’ve ever seen. Rachael & Andrea had an Edgar Allan Poe themed wedding (on Halloween, natch) and the cake was perfectly themed. This isn’t the the only gorgeous cake I’ve seen from Love Cake, but it is my personal favorite.

Capital Cakes NC

I don’t know how these bakers do this – but this purple and gold beauty that Capital Cakes NC made for an intimate wedding is so pretty!

Publix

I wouldn’t be a very good Florida girl if I didn’t mention that Publix makes AMAZING cakes. Most of my birthdays growing up included a Publix cake. In addition to this “naked cake” from Publix, one of our couples had mini whoopie pies, so they were representing John’s home state of Maine too.

Sugar Euphoria

Randi (the baker behind Sugar Euphoria) is the sweetest AND she makes beautiful/delicious treats. I’ve got her under cake, but Sugar Euphoria also makes things other sweet wedding desserts, including macarons (like the colorful ones here), cookies, and tarts. Go visit her bakery in historic Oakwood too!

Not a cake person? Here come some alternative wedding dessert options:

Slice Pie

Pie?!? Yes please! The team at Slice Pie makes every kind of (non-pizza) pie imaginable. We usually get some for Thanksgiving or Christmas, but we’ve had several couples have pie as their wedding dessert instead of, or in addition to, cake. Raleigh’s home-grown Slice Pie is the best place to get that. Tastes like homemade, but you don’t have to do the work.

Duck Donuts

I remember when donut walls became a big wedding trend. I haven’t seen a wall in a few years, but donuts themselves have stayed popular as a wedding dessert. Krispy Kreme is always a winner, but I prefer Duck Donuts with their unique flavor options and cake donuts. They’ve become pretty well known now, but this donut shop got its start not too far from Raleigh, in North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

Two Roosters Ice Cream

I already made it clear that I LOVE cake, but you know what cake loves? To be paired with ice cream. Raleigh’s Two Roosters is a great local ice cream vendor, and they have ice cream carts they can bring to your wedding.

Wasn’t that sweet? Sorry, not sorry. I love dad jokes as much as I love dessert. So once you’ve booked your venue, your photographer (me, please!), and your planner, make sure you have the wedding dessert covered!

We believe that love is fun and colorful, and your wedding photographs should be too.
