Whitaker & Atlantic: Nancy & Craig’s wedding reception
Whitaker & Atlantic is an event space at Dock 1053 in Raleigh, NC. It’s a great, large space for couples interested in an eclectic and modern wedding venue. Since it’s an old loading dock, the vibe is industrial and warehouse-y, with the main room being open and large enough for 150 guests seated, or twice that standing. The ceilings are (VERY) high, there’s exposed brick, and there’s an awesome built-in bar. The exterior wall includes garage doors that lead to the deck, so you and your guests can have the best of both worlds.
My favorite thing though is the decor though. Whitaker & Atlantic is right behind popular Raleigh restaurant/cocktail bar Hummingbird, and if you’ve been there, you’ve seen the bird murals, wallpaper, and fun decor. That vibe continues into the Whitaker & Atlantic event space.
Though Nancy & Craig didn’t make use of it, Whitaker & Atlantic also has a getting ready suite.
But now, about Craig & Nancy
I didn’t get the chance to photograph their wedding ceremony, because I’m not scuba-certified. But these two are, and exchanged vows last year while UNDERWATER. The extent of my underwater photography is limited to lap pools. Craig & Nancy had their wedding ceremony while scuba-diving and then had a legal ceremony with the magistrate. But they still wanted to get wedding portraits and party with their people. That’s where Whitaker & Atlantic comes in, and it’s where I come in as well. I met with the couple before their party for portraits at Whitaker & Atlantic and at Dock 1053 staples Hummingbird and Glas Neon. Then it was dinner and ice cream from Two Roosters, followed by a dance party spun by Frank with Bunn DJ Co. Check out some highlights:
