Chapel Hill Wedding Venues
Chapel Hill wedding venues
It’s the southern part of heaven. Who wouldn’t want to have a Chapel Hill wedding? If that’s your plan, this list of venues is for you! If you’re opening up your geographic search, check out our other venue pages:
All of the wedding venues we include are welcoming to the LGBTQ+ community!!
And while you’re picking your venue, make sure to check out the Kivus & Camera wedding guide:

Old Lystra Inn
Old Lystra Inn sits on a large property covered in trees – oaks, pines, magnolias and more. When the sun comes through, the dappled light is so lovely. The tiered lawn area behind the 100+ year old farmhouse is the perfect spot for an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour.
You’ll feel like you’re far from anything busy, but it’s not even 5 miles from downtown Chapel Hill, so it’s quite convenient for you and your guests.

Chapel Hill Carriage House
Carriage House is another great outdoor venue for your Chapel Hill wedding. The outdoor cathedral is a picture perfect ceremony location, and the grounds are beautiful throughout the seasons.

Lavender Oaks Farm
Yes, Lavender Oaks Farm actually grows lavender. So if you time your wedding right, you can take portraits surrounded by the beautiful purple flowers.
With 60 acres, and multiple ceremony/reception setup options, the hardest part of planning will be deciding where to do what.

The Barn at Valhalla
Let’s continue on the trend of Chapel Hill venues sitting on lots of land with beautiful surroundings. The Barn at Valhalla includes the barn and a lodge. If you want, you can book the whole weekend, which can turn your wedding into a multi-day affair.

UNC Chapel Hill Campus
I’m a little biased, but I think UNC’s campus is one of the most beautiful places in North Carolina. And if you have an emotional connection to the university, there are options for ceremonies on campus. The Forest Theater is a beautiful outdoor amphitheater. Coker Arboretum is another great option for intimate ceremonies. I’ve even photographed a ketubah signing at the Old Well.
Some campus reception options include the Carolina Club, the Carolina Inn, and Morehead Planetarium.

Carolina Inn
The Carolina Inn is probably the definitive UNC-Chapel Hill wedding venue. This historic hotel sits on the edge of campus and hosts multiple ballrooms with iconic photo locations. You’ll be a short walk from both The Old Well and Franklin Street.
If you bleed Carolina Blue, The Carolina Inn might be the perfect Chapel Hill wedding venue for you.

NC Botanical Garden
I wanted to list the North Carolina Botanical Garden separately from UNC campus because, while it is part of campus, it’s distinct in that you can have a full ceremony & reception (up to 125 guests) at the botanical garden. The display gardens are varied and huge, so you’ll have plenty of backdrop options.

Additional Chapel Hill wedding venues:
Barn of Chapel Hill
Carolina Club (this is actually where John and I got married!)
The Colonial Inn (in Hillsborough)
Forest Hall (in Pittsboro)
The Graham Mill
Horace Williams House
The Parlour at Mann’s Chapel
Rigmor House
Plenty of restaurants will host weddings as well, especially if you’re having a more intimate affair. The Lantern, La Residence (La Rez to UNC folk) and Top of the Hill are just a few examples.
