Love is fun & colorful.
Your wedding photos should be too.
We first met Rita & Laura at Alicia & Jon’s wedding in the mountains this summer, and learned they also hailed from the Bull City. When they reached out about us photographing their wedding – which is also going to be in the mountains, but this time in Tennessee – we knew Durham engagement photos would be in the mix since it’s the city where these ladies met and fell in love.
That meeting and falling in love took place over exam tables at a veterinary hospital where they both worked at the time, so that’s where we started the engagement session. Their dog Chance played the part of the patient, and he did a great job! Check out that bowtie <3
Next, we headed to the Eno River, which was running a little higher and faster than I’m used to, but most of the Hurricane Florence flooding had subsided. It did leave behind a lot of downed trees though. Nature can be really scary. Fortunately for us, Sunday morning was beautiful and the Eno made a perfect backdrop for Laura & Rita, superheroes. Rita’s son London also joined us and had quite a knack for finding river critters – worms and snails and bugs, oh my!
Chance was really not so sure about the water situation, but he loves his people and braved it to go see them.
Goofy couples are my jam. I’m also going to have to create a new tag for dancing on the Eno footbridge.
Later that evening we met back up in downtown Durham for our final part of the session – murals and American Tobacco Campus.
They love each other more than bacon. That is as real as it gets y’all. Also, as the sun sets, we obviously gotta get some of that Lucky Strike tower all lit up.
Pretend like there’s some rain drops in these last couple shots – the sky seemed threatening enough, so we brought the umbrella, but I guess that held it off.
And that’s a wrap on our day with Laura & Rita (and London & Chance). Thanks so much for sharing your love 😀
