Fall Wedding at Shady Wagon Farm

Shady Wagon Farm wedding

Shady Wagon wedding in the fall

It’s been a bit since we had a wedding at Shady Wagon farm, and it was so nice to be back for Sara & Ben’s wedding on Saturday. Despite the December date, we had pretty nice and mild weather for most of the day. Which was great because Sara & Ben deserved a great wedding! It did end up raining later in the evening once everyone was safely undercover of the reception, and it was still drizzly when we went out for the sparkler exit, but that just makes things extra magical!

Another extra magical fact about this wedding: Sara & Ben got married on Sara’s parents’ wedding anniversary, so immediately after Sara & Ben’s ceremony, everyone stayed put for a beautiful vow renewal. (I may or may not have been crying.)

Anyway, here’s the awesome Shady Wagon team:

Venue: Shady Wagon Farm
Planner/Coordinator: Monica West
Hair & Makeup: Wedded Kiss
Florals: Cheryl’s Floral Designs
Officiant: Charles Haley
DJ: DJ Just Drew for DJ Ones
Catering: Funky Fresh
Rentals: Party Reflections & Greenhouse Picker Sisters

I love a bridesman!!! I say it all the time, but seriously just ask your best friends/favorite people to stand by your side on your wedding day. It doesn’t matter how they identify and it doesn’t matter if you have the same number of people as your partner. What does matter is how the people hanging around you on your wedding day make you feel!

Meanwhile, Team Ben was playing the Game of Life.  I don’t know who won the board game, but safe to say Ben has won in life since he got to marry Sara 🙂

Before going out to meet Ben, Sara had a first look with her dad.

Once he was all laced up, we took Ben out to get in position for the first look. We spent all day with Ben, and aside from moments when he was laughing at toasts, he definitely did not wear his emotions on his sleeve, so this, this right here, is the equivalent of the biggest smile in the world.

Time for the ceremony! Sara & Ben had blankets available for people to snuggle up in, which was awesome.

This little dude was a bit skeptical of me all day, but he did a great job!

Immediately after they and their wedding party recessed back down the aisle, all but Sara made their way back to some seats for Sara’s parents’ vow renewal.

Around the tail end of sunlight we had some couple’s portrait time and the sun, which had been hiding much of the day made a nice appearance.

Back at the barn, this amazing charcuterie spread was all set up under the pavilion for cocktail hour, and lovely details were set up for dinner inside

The first dance was followed by dinner and toasts…

And here we have one of my favorite wedding traditions: the groom fidgeting with his new wedding band.

Party time!!! You can’t tell in this photo, but DJ Drew was wearing roller skates much of the night!!!

SEE?!?!?!?! He even danced Copperhead Road in roller skates!!! I would legit bust my head open.

Here’s Sara in her second dress, a lovely navy dress that was perfect for late night dancing.

We call this “one hop this time!”

And the shoe game. There was a question about who the cats loved more and that is a winning question. It’s never who feeds them. It’s always the other person.

Me too Brooks, me too.

With a sleeping ring bearer and sneakers on under fancy dresses, we know the end of the night is nigh, but there’s time for a few more dances.

By this point, that rain I’d mentioned had started in, so the edges of the pavilion were a little damp

But it wasn’t so much rain that it immediately put out the sparklers, so we made it happen!

Congratulations Sara & Ben!!! So excited for you as continue your lives together as a married couple!
