Star themed wedding with awesome nerdy details
Briana & Jesse’s star themed wedding at The Ridge Asheville was, forgive me, out of this world! And when I say star themed, I mean yes we got photos like the above with epic starry night skies, and there were celestial vibes to their attire and invitation suite, but it wasn’t just about actual stars. This wedding was also full of lots of nerdy details. They got married on May 4, which is Star Wars Day. IYKYK, but if you don’t know, it’s Star Wars Day because you can say May the Fourth be with you. So there were Star Wars references of course, but also references to Star Trek, Stargate, Firefly, Doctor Who, and more star-related pop culture.
So this was obviously my kind of wedding. Check it out:
How many nerdy references can you pick out in the detail photo above? Here’s a closer look at their ring boxes where we’ve got a My Precious wedding ring box as a Lord of the Rings nod, and a Doctor Who themed wedding ring box with the TARDIS and the love is a promise quote. In addition to the ring boxes, you’ve got Jesse’s Stargate cufflinks and tie pin and his Star Trek insignia earrings. Written in the Stars is also a great song!
Jesse gave his attendants axes and viking drinking horns. How cool is that? I also love his Lord of the Rings wedding vow notebook.
Here’s your first peek at the beautiful blue ridge mountains that help make Asheville weddings so beautiful!
Briana had a first look with her dad and her brother, and the whole family was emotional. Such a sweet moment!
And then it was time to head further up the mountain to walk down the aisle. Briana had a cape veil that was over 20 feet long! And it glittered like stars so was absolutely perfect for the day.
While their guests played party games at cocktail hour and the start of the reception…
…we caught the last gasps of the sun setting over the Asheville mountains. The Ridge Asheville is a simply stunning NC mountain wedding venue.
Back inside for toasts, dancing, and perfectly awesome and nerdy wedding details. How great is that “Til Death” neon sign?
On wedding reception tables, we’ve got the Death Star, the TARDIS, Firefly class Serenity, and the U.S.S. Enterprise.
At the end of the night we want out for the epic star shot below, and also played with lightsabers!!!
Tell me what y’all think about this last one! It is a photo where I’ve exposed for the stars but the couple was so close to the venue lights that they’re almost completely overexposed. I kind of dig it, but I’m also curious to hear your thoughts since it looks more like digital art than a photograph. And technically, it is two photos, not a single photograph. I did overlay some extra stars from an image I shot earlier in the night since this frame didn’t have the best sky.
