I love love love this job! In mid-2015, one my closest friends told me he planned on proposing to another good friend of mine, his girlfriend Emma (spoiler alert – now she’s his fiance), and he enlisted John and I for some help. Stephen Allen planted some seeds, and got Emma to reach out to me right after Thanksgiving to do some “Christmas card” photos. Ever the smart man, he let Emma do the planning, only suggesting that they use a Charlie Brown theme.

Stephen Allen and I have known each other for almost a decade now, and I really mean it when I say he is one of the most delightful humans on the planet. This guy always makes sure everyone around feels welcomed and his laughter is legitimately contagious. Emma is likewise a delight – witty, sarcastic, and nerdy. Everyone in our circle of friends was excited when the two of them started seeing each other. I don’t think there was any doubt she’d say yes when Stephen proposed, but I was still so excited when it actually happened.

We obviously had to get some shots and a kiss under the Davie Poplar to make it official. If you’re not a Tar Heel, you may not know this, but according to legend, if a couple kisses under the Davie Poplar, that couple will get married. I also loved how Stephen “reacted” to the ring that he picked out.

A quick of change of clothes and we continued the engagement portraits around campus.

Congratulations again you guys! I love you both so much and I can’t wait for your wedding 🙂
