Love is fun & colorful.
Your wedding photos should be too.
Three point one four one five nine times a billion plus infinity is approximately how much Kim & Andy love one another, so Pi Day was the perfect day for their nuptials at The Meadows Raleigh. The weather was positively perfect for a mid-March wedding, with the rain that had threatened the forecast earlier in the week staying away and the sun playing hide and seek behind some temperature cooling clouds.
Spirits were high despite a slightly smaller guest list than anticipated. Kim, her mom, and her bridesmaids spent the morning getting ready at Aerie House while Andy and his groomsfolk played games and cracked jokes about the antlers over at The Roost.
Kim & Andy exchanged letters while they were getting ready and wrote one another similar messages that had them both holding back tears. Then, there were definite tears at the first look out in The Meadows Raleigh’s namesake field of grass. Kim & Andy returned from that first look to applause from all of their friends and we had some fun with group portraits.
But I’m talking too much and should let the images do the talking!! First, though, a round of applause for their rockstar team.

The ring in the image below was Kim’s grandmother’s and now she and her sisters have all worn it on their wedding days. Isn’t it gorgeous?
Kim’s custom Mrs. Davidson robe was so very fluffy and soft. It would have been hard for me to take it off to put on a wedding dress, but her dress was absolutely gorgeous, so totally worth it!
Kim made the wise decision to read her letter from Andy before she had her makeup done, and Andy stepped out onto the front porch of The Roost to read his from Kim.
I’m so serious about this dress y’all. It suited Kim perfectly and I love everything about it.
Before heading out to the namesake Meadows for a first look with Andy, Kim had a first look with her dad on the stairs of Aerie house.
Outside, the sun had made its appearance and our bride and groom saw each other under blue skies and with a lot of emotion. Luckily, Andy had tissues in his coat pocket.
How great does this wedding party look?? They brought the ferocity for my favorite style of group shot: the you’re-the-cast-of-HBO’s-new-show-and-this-is-your-Vanity-Fair-cover shot.
These two are just about ready to be married…
…and the ceremony site on the lawn outside of Aerie House looked perfect for the wedding ceremony
Kim’s nephew Miles brought tons of smiles as he made his way down the aisle as ring bearer, but the smiles for Kim were even bigger.
Seriously though – look at how these two look at one another. They were looking at each other like this all day long.
The images of the couple walking back down the aisle are some of my favorites. This is pure joy.
And this sweet moment John captured immediately after the ceremony as the newlyweds waited for their friends and family to join them for group portraits.
After some post-ceremony portraits, everyone headed over to Heron Hall for the reception, where the decor was all set up and looking lovely.
(and, yes, that’s custom hand sanitizer with one of their engagement photos on it set out on the buffet table. Perfection!)
It wouldn’t be a Pi Day wedding without pie!!!
After dances, a welcome, and dinner, we snuck out for some blue hour portraits. The Meadows Raleigh has so many gorgeous spots for portraits.
But as we were wrapping up those portraits of Kim & Andy, I spotted these crazy kids engaging in some bathtub shenanigans. I wish we had a shot of the whole wedding party like this.
Once people ate some Pi Day pie, they hit the dance floor like all good wedding guests do.
The party was truly lighting up the night!
Guess where we made this portrait. The bathroom. Pretty bathrooms are the best.
Before we knew it, it was time for sparklers and goodnights.
That’s a wrap on Kim & Andy’s Pi Day wedding at The Meadows Raleigh! Wasn’t it a beautiful day?!
