Historic Haywood Hall Wedding

Lace & Frank’s Haywood Hall Wedding – Raleigh, NC

Haywood Hall has quickly become one of our favorite venues. The grounds are gorgeous, the house is gorgeous, and it’s nice and close to downtown Raleigh. Lace & Frank had a bit of an “in” with the venue, as Frank has Haywood ancestors and his mother is active in the group that maintains the historic house. The ceremony was conducted at Christ Church Raleigh, which is just around the corner, allowing Lace and her bridesmaids to get ready at Haywood Hall and walk over to the ceremony. For the reception, the couple hired Liquid Pleasure, one of North Carolina’s best bands (and Roy Williams’ favorite), and they kept the party going all night!

Without further ado, here are some of my favorite images from their elegant wedding day:

John loves getting shots of guests’ phone screens while they’re taking a group shot – sort of a meta picture. I like seeing how the phones contribute to the wedding day story. During bride prep, the girls were dancing to 90s boy band music (!!!) and Lace was getting excited about the honeymoon reminders from her calendar. wedding storytellingBride hair and makeup

Meanwhile, the gentlemen were tying their bowties (apparently really difficult – who knew?) and toasting as groomsmen are wont to do. Frank’s father was his best man, and he did not shirk his best man duties. He made absolute sure that Frank was looking his best. Bowties for Groom and groomsmen Father of the Groom as Best Man Back at Haywood Hall, the girls were toasting too – with champagne AND Maker’s Mark. There’s a southern wedding tradition that says you should bury a bottle of bourbon before the wedding day and drink it that day to ensure the rain stays away.
