Gina & Derek’s wedding day in downtown Raleigh
Do you remember these rockstars from their engagement session? Well, they got married last month at The Grove at City Market, and I’ve got some awesome photos to prove it.
But first, a little about the newlyweds. Gina and Derek met in college in New York and bonded over music. A large part of the guest list was made up of friends they’ve made through the music festival scene. Derek even DJs as a hobby and put together a fun set during the reception. And those folks could party.
Gina & Derek both have a way of making those around them feel included and an important part of the fun. They’re also both hilarious, so the whole day was a blast. I think my favorite thing about them was how well they know one another though. It takes a special couple to move me to tears during vows, but these two accomplished that. I’m sniffling just thinking about the way they looked at one another. So… some photos…
First, how stunning are these rings?!
Gina and her crew got ready at an AirBNB a couple miles from the venue, and the colors and light were perfectly lovely.
Okay, a moment for Gina’s purple eyeshadow. Can more people go with a colorful, fun look like this on their wedding day? It’s your wedding – go big or go home!!
Meanwhile, Derek got ready at his and Gina’s apartment before heading to the venue.
This sign is painted so that it changed colors from blue to purple as you moved angles.
From the first look forward, the day was full of smiles and laughs (with a few happy tears thrown in).
Gina & Derek exchanged vows and rings in the courtyard, with crystals hanging from the backdrop.
While we did some more couple portraits around golden hour, the party got started.
This chandelier basically asked me to take a photo with the couple.
After dinner and heartfelt toasts, these festival goers and their people hit the dance floor and rarely left.
These glasses though!!!
Just as we got ready for the exit, the sky opened up, so we all got a little damp, but the smiles didn’t dampen.
One last perfect image: Derek got Gina this adorable little Marcel the Shell with Shoes on, so I obviously had to get a photo of Marcel with the wedding rings.
